Home Made Mothers Day | Scrapbook Process

Sunday, 28 February 2016

It's finally here!! The scrapbook blog post! (yay)
I've spoken a lot about my scrapbook and how much I've been loving it and I know people want to see inside, however I find it hard to describe my process. I've put together a page perfect for some last minute mothers day inspiration and a video so you can see my process.

Ok so with this page I went for florals, lots of florals because my mam loves the garden.
I used a wallpaper sample for the background of this page, thats a great tip if you like to scrapbook! Scrapbook paper books can be overly expensive, especially for the nicer patterns so if you g into any DIY shop and just get free wallpaper samples you can create pages on more of a budget! Also if you only like certain parts you dont feel as bad cutting it all up. The background is quite busy because of all the sparkles and the birds but I actually think it worked so well because the base colour is white.
Then I added a little section at the bottom with one large photo, a polaroid and a quote card. I build each layer up with a background of scrapbook paper from the Range, tissue paper collected from old clothing parcels from my friend Grace and brown paper collected from Christmas. Brown paper and tissue are great for building up layers and they look effortless on the page and just separates each detail. The quote card is from a Project Life pack, these are quite expensive but if you search them on Ebay you can buy bulk packs for under £10. They are really great for your scrapbook as they add a bit of journalling without having to include your own handwriting; also I thought the font was very blogger ahahah!
Then at the top I added another photo with the same details and a title card from the same pack, it says the date and a happy mothers day message from me and my brother.
Around the page I added little flower embellishments for the places that didn't seem quite done or anywhere thats I'd messed up and I added this lovely Bumble Bee ribbon from The Range. I love this ribbon and my favourite photo of my moms garden is the bee on the lavender so I had to add a little bit.

I think any kind of page like this is a really fab idea if you're stuck for present inspiration; if you frame it and add a nice message it's a thoughtful gift that I'm sure any mam would love! I've also made one for my nan too as she loves things like this so it can be used on any occasion, not just for a mam! (Is it mam or mum? I dont know if mam is a weird way of saying it? or mom)
Hope you enjoy and you can see the full process video here:

I'd love to hear any feedback you have!
How are you celebrating mothers day?

  2. This is such a lovely idea, Sophie! It's turned out so well and I'm sure your Mum will love it. I really enjoy doing scrap booking, although I always start one and never finish it, because I get lost for ideas or put too much pressure on myself for it to be perfect. It might be something I revisit though soon and have another shot at x

  6. This is truly beautiful. I wish I'd thought of something like this for my mum! I'm usually a baking kind of girl when it comes to mothers day gifts, my mum's a sucker for a cake so I always have that as my failsafe! Will have to put a scrapbook together when next mother's day comes around.

  10. I really wish I was really artsy, so I could do amazing stuff like this. I think this makes an amazing gift for mothers day! There´s no mother out there who wouldn´t like this. It looks gorgeous and it´s handmade, so that´s a great bonus. Personally, I think it´s the ultimate personal gift.
