Haul: Bourjois Paris

Wednesday, 3 February 2016

I was quickly running out of my Mac Studio Sculpt and I didnt feel like spending that much on foundation, after just paying for a holiday, so I popped to Boots. Obviously Bourjois is always raved about, especially the Healthy Mix  Serum, so I went straight there.

The Foundation:
I tried the Healthy Mix Serum before and it was ok but I found that it just didn't give me enough coverage. I loved the consistency but I thought that this time I'd opt for the foundation version. I have to say that I do prefer it. I find that it is a lovely foundation, that is really light weight but it still covers what it needs to. I bought the concealer just in case it was very light but actually this covers fine, I could definitely just use it alone and I have very spot prone/problematic skin.
It does have a very strong apricot scent, which I love, but I dont know how this would work on very sensitive skin. It's supposedly all natural so I think you'd be fine but it is something to be aware of.
It's a very liquid-y texture and this is fab because it blends in so seamlessly. It's very hydrating and glowy so it's perfect for my dehydrated skin but not so good for those with oily skin. It keeps me feeling fresh and I love that you can build it up or leave it at a thin base depending on what type of skin day you're having.
I apply it with my Real Techniques buffing brush and then quickly bop over t with my Miracle Complexion Sponge. This way it just ensures a very flawless finish. I with say that it can get a tiny bit cakey on dry patches but that always happens to me and it could be because I'm using the Stay Matte powder, which I'm not a fan of.

Concealer:
I'd never seen this concealer before and it isn't on their website but I have to say it's the best concealer I've tried. Thats right!! Holy grail status. If you have dry skin I'd highly recommend it because it gives a lot of coverage but is very creamy and hydrating. To be honest I only picked it up because if you spend over £12 you got a free lipstick but I'm so glad I did.
It really brightens my under eyes and erases the bags. It works perfectly for touch up and layers really well during the day if you just want to freshen up.
The only downside of this, and all Bourjois products, is that they dont have very light shades. I have to say that I do have to bronze up my neck because I'm too pale and the concealer isn't light enough to get that highlighted look but I think coverage wise they are perfect. They work so well together or alone.

Lipstick:
I got the lipstick free and I was so excited to try it. You all know I love lipsticks and this one has soon became a new favourite, over all the higher end ones I have!! The shade is 07 and it's this beautiful nude pink with a brown undertone. It's not a total Kylie Jenner nude but for my pale skin it's amazing. It's the perfect nude for me because it adds a bit of colour and it brightens my face instead of washing me out. I do think this colour is really flattering because it makes my lips appear a lot fuller, without even overdrawing. I wore this on my new passport photo so you know its a good one.
The formula is lovely; its creamy and then dries to a demi matte. You can feel it on the lips slightly but to be honest I dont have any lipsticks that I can't feel. It's a type were you know you're wearing something but you just forget. You dont have to worry about it.
It doesn't have the fruity scent of the rest of the products but it doesn't smell bad either.

Do you have any favourite Bourjois products? Or just some I should try?
ALSO what are your best powder recommendations??!!!
Hope you enjoyed!

  2. I have the Bourjois serum but I stopped using it bc my skin got really sensitive and I was so scared it was going to break me out! I'm glad it works for you though :) the sound of the concealer sounds pretty awesome though, will have a peek when I pop into the drugstore next. I have the Bourjois liquid=y lipsticks things (?? god knows what it's called) and I can say they're pretty much a dupe of the Sephora cream lip stains (which I also have) but cheaper! You should check it out :D

As for powders, I probably shouldn't be telling you but the Hourglass one is super awesome but def more expensive than your typical powders. I've heard really great things about the Rimmel Stay matte powders though so you could try that??? I also use Innisfree's powder but obvs that's a Korean brand and harder to get hold of!

  3. I'm a big fan of this foundation, it's the best one I've found on the high street. It definitely isn't full coverage, but it suits me well for everyday. I'm going to give the concealer a go as I'm on the look out for a new one! xx

  6. I love the Healthy Mix as an everyday dewy foundation as it looks so natural on the skin! It is one of few drugstore foundations that provides a good coverage and still looks lovely! I need to try more of the Bourjois range, it all looks gorgeous! I have always loved the Rimmel Stay Matte powder, it has always kept my foundation in place all day! Tavi xx
