Style Snippet: January Blues

Sunday, 10 January 2016

I thought I'd do a little post talking about how I've been using pops of colour to brighten up the dull days in January!

Coat: Topshop (Vintage)
Jumper: New Look
Jeans: Topshop Leighs
Shoes: Converse
Friend: Grace

So I had planned on doing this
outfit post with a different pop of colour, like my mustard crop jumper, but I got this jumper on Friday and I had to show you. Also January Blues with a blue jumper, come on thats good?!
Anyway, the jumper is just from New Look and I'd really recommend going to your local New Look because I got £68 worth of items for £20 and this jumper was £1!! I love a good bargain and this has to be a great one. Obviously high necks are really in at the moment because of the 70s trends but I only have neutral colours, so when I saw this deep blue one I knew I had to pick it up. It's a kind of bat wing style but not fully, so it's flowy and baggy but not unflattering. It just skims over you and flatters your shape because of the high neck and tighter sleeves. The neck is slightly lose so you don't feel like the jumper is choking you, haha!
I've been adding a pop of colour with my usual uniform of black jeans and chunky knits because the days have been so dull! January is all great and motivational at first but all the rain and dark days can get you down, so I've been using my wardrobe to add some colour back in my life.

Also can we all just appreciate how scary this pier is?! I live in an industrial, shipping town,  and Steetly used to be this industrial site but the industry left and its just kind of abandoned. The pier is how they used to get the chemicals out and water in but there's been fires and things so you can get right to the end. You're not meant to climb it because it's old and unstable but the tide was coming in so we thought it would be a bit of fun. I've never been scared of heights but being up there and feeling the sea move it was pretty scary. I love places like this though, they are so good to photograph!
Here's some old photos of what it used to be like because I managed to photograph it before they knocked it all down:

Hope you enjoyed this post! Whats your favourite way to add a pop of colour?

  1. I agree the location is perfect for photography, but I'd be so worried about falling into the sea! Love the colour of the jumper to add colour into dull days, going to have to check out the New Look sale as there sound to be so many bargains there x

  6. You're right, it is pretty frightening there! But I love that you use color in your wardrobe to brighten up your daily mood. Also, your hair is like a Pumpkin Spice Latte - i love it.

  8. Sorry, I couldn´t reading finish this post because I immediately had to leave and check out if New Look sells somewhere in Germany because £1 for a jumper that looks this great. What?!?! You got yourself a damn good bargain right there.
No, I´m kidding. Of course I´m finishing this post before going on an online hunt. The scenery looks amazing. I truly adore abandoned places like this. I really want to go to one of those abandoned houses on a sunny day and just take endless pictures that hopefully turn out as beautiful as yours have!

  12. Lovely photos! I can't believe I missed a £1 jumper in Newlook. I usually add colour through jumpers, don't really change anything else in my outfits daily aha xx

  13. Gorgeous photos! The way that pier just stops is so odd! I totally agree about adding a pop of colour though, definitely makes all the difference.
