Style Snippet: Easy Blanket Scarf Look

Thursday, 17 December 2015

I absolutely love the blanket scarf trend, I think it looks so chic and sassy! I had to give it a go ever since I saw FollowingLisa's post (here) all about them. She has an amazing blog, it's one of my faves, and she inspired me so much to try this out with one of my usual scarves.

Dress: Topshop
Scarf: New Look
Necklace: H&M

I usually wear this as just a normal neck scarf, although it is quite big so I thought it would be perfect to use as a shawl look.
I started off with a simple outfit, just a grey, bodycon dress and black tights. I added a simple, dainty bar necklace to add a bit of detail because otherwise I thought it may look a bit boring. I love bodycon dresses because they are so feminine and even make me look like I have curves, which is always appreciated. I mean I'm 18 and struggle with a 12 year old body, ahah! It can be quite annoying when you see all the amazing, curvy girls so I feel really comfortable in this. It just eventuates all the right parts of your body and doesn't cling to any lumps. It's a thicker material so it just skims past that after dinner, food baby. I love it because it figure hugging but perfect for the day because you're still covered up and warm.
Then I just layered the scarf on top and added my usual college bag. I think this look is great because it's perfect to wear inside and out. I often find that I feel strange wearing a chunky scarf inside because it's outwear but wearing it as a blanket/shawl is perfect because it just fits in with your look. Also if you're like me and get very tired and cold, it doubles as a snuggly blanket. Also a bonus when clothes make you feel like you're in bed.

Hope you enjoyed this post! What do you think about blanket scarves?

  4. I'm never sure how to wear a blanket scarf without completely drowning myself in material, but the way you've styled it looks so cosy and comfy too. I'll have to give it a go!

  7. I am totally diggin' the gifs - adds a really lovely touch to your posts :) and the scarf is a lovely colour, though I'm pretty sure I'd drown in the enormity of it all since I'm so small too! I'd love to rock the whole cape trend... I saw lots of them on sale in new look and was super tempted!
