Lazy Girl Guide: Looking Put Together

Tuesday, 17 November 2015

If you're like me, you're quite lazy because you stay up too late checking instagram a thousand times over, then back to Twitter and then Facebook and repeat. It's annoying when you're like this but still want to look nice, so I put together a few things I do, while getting ready to combat tiredness/laziness.

1:

Pick a makeup routine that you know and trust.
For those really lazy days you don't want to be testing out new products that may not work and you don't want to be spending ages perfecting a smoky eye. Just stick to the basics and what works best for you. I pick out a good base option, dewy lips, a cat eye because I'm used to doing them and it makes you look like you put more effort in and a cream eyeshadow. I find that cream and dewy products work best because they are easier to blend so you don't have to have a nightmare over brushes you forgot to clean.

2:
Lip choice.
This one is completely personal preference so apply it to how you feel that day.
I find that lip choices can really impact how I look; I dont have the Kylie Jenner pout so I have to work on my lips to make me look like I actually have any. If you're feeling really lazy you could go for a lip balm, like this coconut one, it will add a bit of shine, which makes your lips look more full and it will protect your lips from the unforgiving, winter winds. If you wanted to amp it up a bit and look like you make a lot of effort you could go for a bold lip. I find sheer colours lip this YSL one works because the formula is really sheer but the colour is still intense; it just means that you get a bold lip without the work of lip brushes and lipstick teeth.

3:
More coverage, less products.
Usually I go for concealer and power, instead of a full coverage base, however that takes a bit more blending and doesn't give me a flawless finish. On days that I'm looking really drained and just want to look a bit more awake, I apply a fuller coverage base. Studio Sculpt is fab because it gives a good medium to full coverage base but is still dewy, which is more forgiving on spots and dry patches. I find that this just takes less time because you dont have to bother with concealer but you're not piling a lot on areas that don't need it because you can thin it out or layer it up.

4:

Adding a Collar.
On my laziest days I just want to snuggle up in big jumpers but that isn't the most flattering and it can sometimes look like you've made no effort. By adding a little collar under the jumper it adds layers, which looks like you spent more time thinking about it and makes it look more interesting. I chose this white, scalloped collar because it contrasts with the boy-ish vibes of the jumper and looks a bit more girly.

5:

 Wearing Patterns.
Patterns can easily be brought into an outfit by accessories, like bags or scarves, jumpers, patterned trousers, there's so many easy ways to do it and it just makes your outfit that little bit more interesting. I think the more interesting an outfit is, the more put together you look. I find bags and jumpers and the easiest way because they are just one item that you can add to an all black/neutral outfit but it really makes a difference and adds a pop of colour.

6:
Wearing Colour.
I know a lot of people find colour hard to style but I think choosing a colour you love and incorporating it, makes a huge difference to your overall look. Adding colour is a bit different from a usual black outfit, so it makes you stand out more and look like you did make an effort. I choose piece that I know I can style with neutral pieces, for example a scarf can go with any jumper and black jeans, this skirt can go with a black jumper and tights combo and a red lip can go with any kind of outfit. It's so simple to include colour and it makes you look like you really thought about what you're wearing.

Hope this helped and don't worry if you're a bit lazy, you just know how to take care of yourself ;)

  1. I always opt for a nude lip and a flick of mascara on lazy days. The high coverage foundation was a great tip, seems much more logical than faffing with a light base, concealer and powder! Loved this post!

  4. You always come up with such unique post titles and concepts, this is why I'm obsessed with your blog. Incredible photos too!
My usual "lazy" make up consists of BB Cream, powder, bronzer, brows and mascara... which for me isn't a lot at all haha. As long as the brows are on point, all is well. x

  7. Cream eyeshadows are my lifesaver. When I´m only going to uni, I can´t really be bothered with a full-on eye make up, so I tend to pick one color of cream eyeshadow and just go with it. I also try to add colour to my lips as much as possible or whenever I feel like it. I think it makes the whole look just more put together. And with my favorite lipsticks, it´s not a really big task to put them on, even if they´re red.

    1. Aw thank you!!! Umm, sometimes it can be a bit too dark for me when it gets into the winter and there's been no sun ahah but it usually works all year round. I get NC15 but I think they may do a NW10? I'd recommend trying it though, it's my lifesaver foundation ahah Xxx
