18th Birthday Snippet: Shopping Haul And Mini Reviews

Sunday, 1 November 2015
This is the final, little snippet of my birthday celebrations. I've included my favourite purchases/presents and a few mini reviews on products/items.

Can we just pause a second and look at this, I just can't. It's absolutely stunning.
This was my present of Lukke, which is ridiculous because it is so expensive just for a lipstick but I have to say it is so worth it.
I decided to finally get an autumnal, berry shade. Can you believe I have a blog and haven't tried a berry lip? This is called Prune Virgin, which is a slightly weird name but it's a gorgeous, dark purple/berry shade. You can really build it up to a more vampy look or just put it on with a lip brush and get a more 'I've just ate some frozen berries look' which is what I do. It's a matte lipstick but it's not drying or heavy on the lips, it just glides on and stays on all day. It wears off to a stain and doesn't collect in the lines of your lips. I usually stay away from dark lips because I'm always scared that I'll smear them across my face but with this one I hardly notice I'm wearing it; it's so light and easy to wear, I could even wear it to college and not be scared.
I'm wearing it in every photo, so you  can see that it's not as dark and scary as it is in the bullet. When she asked if I wanted to try it, I was apprehensive because I'd picked out a few sheer red colours, but then she put it on and I fell in love. It's brighter than you'd expect and really lifts your face, which is great for me considering I'm so pale. It also enhances the lips, instead of making them look overly done and thin, which I'm always scared about because I don't have much lip to work with.

This one is really exciting because the case was actually gifted to me by the lovely Emily, from GoCustomized. They specialize in personalized phone cases and other types of case, like Ipads and things. You can just upload a photo from Instagram or a printscreen, like I did and make your own Iphone 5s case and I'm pretty sure they cater for all mainstream phones, which I loved because the 5S is slowly disappearing I decided to go on the hunt for my perfect phone case pattern, so I went on Pinterest, of course, and I was just searching about for different backgrounds and patterns; it took me a while to find one I loved because I'm quite picky. They offer their own designs on the website and some of them looked fab, I particularly loved a leaf one on there but I thought I should go all out and use the website fully to get a personalized one. Finally I stuck with the lovely, blue marble effect case, I know how obvious am I?? Marble is everywhere right now and I'm not going to lie, I love it!! I'm jumping right on that marble bandwagon. I liked this design though because it had hints of gold in. I was so excited when it came because the envelope had 'shylifeliving' on and I don’t know if this is really lame but it made me so excited! It came just after I got back from my birthday trip so it was like a little present. Anyway, the case is great quality, and I've already dropped my phone quite a lot and it's completely fine. It's finished matte, so you don’t get an awkward shine, which I really love because I think a shiny finish would have made the marble look a bit tacky. The case itself is sturdy but not bulky, so your phone is still a nice size and it doesn’t affect the shape or width of your phone; I thought this was great because I'm always trying to squeeze my phone into small pockets. (Side note: why are women's jeans pockets always so small??) I was worried that the picture would come blurred because I zoomed in and it was only a printscreen but it didn't, the picture that you upload is the exact picture you get, it doesn't get cropped weirdly or go blurry, so if you did get a actual photo on the case it would be fine. I'm really impressed and I'd 100% order again!

These 3 are some purchases off Etsy that I got off Grace and Lukke. They know I love my novelty room decor and I was so happy when I opened these. The first two are card from Lukke and can we just talk about that cute Alpaca!!! I'm starting a print wall and this one will be going up, I love the burgundy colour in it, it's one that I dont really have in my room.
The other card is this lovely Cacti one. Obviously I think everyone knows I love cacti, they are just so cute, so this watercolour, postcard is so me!! I have it on my desk at the moment but it will be going on my wall too, it just goes so well with everything and I love all the different kinds of cacti on it. It makes me want to collect more.
The candle is from Grace; it's a natural soy candle, which I loved because I've heard so much about how they are better for you and I love getting into all the candles fact, haha. It's Totoro themed candle and on her page she says it smells of 'Japanese cherry blossom, woodlands and a hint of cedar wood'. I imagine that it is meant to smell like the woods and forest area around where Totoro is set. I love the idea and the candle does smell really fresh; it's a strong smell and it fills the room.

If I were to pick two favourites out of thing things I purchased it would be these two. They are both from New Look and they are both so snuggly!!
The mustard jumper was only £7.99 and I was so happy when I saw it. I've been looking for a oversized, mustard jumper for so long because they are such a basic. I'm not a fan of cable knit on me and I like a thinner style of jumper, so this one is perfect. I went 2 sizes up so that it would be more oversized and a bit longer in length. I can see myself getting so much wear out of this, so look forward to seeing it in many outfit posts.

The scarf was also a bargain at £10. I know that you can get scarves elsewhere for cheaper but I love tartan and wanted a tartan-esque one, so I was willing to pay a bit more. It doesn't look exactly like a traditional tartan but I wanted something a bit bigger but not as big as a blanket scarf, and most Edinburgh tartan ones are quite short, like my red one. I went for this autumnal leaf style of colouring because I thought it matched the jumper really well and it would go with a lot more during the winter months.

Zara basics are my life. Literally they feel like Pjs and they are amazing for days when you got up late and can't be bothered to put real clothes on. I always wear my short sleeved one,  so I thought it was time to switch it up a bit and get this one for winter. I can already tell that I'll need to buy more because I've wore this so much already. It's a thinner stripe, which is something that I dont really have, and it's just a normal t-shirt length with a higher neck. I love this because it will be so useful for layering and it's just a classic that I will wear so often. The material is lovely and soft but not clingy and it's tight without being restricting.

Finally is this really cute jumper that I got from my parents. I think they bought it on a whim because they know I love cute animal prints but I really do love it. It goes perfectly with my Suede shorts and little, scalloped collar. I can tell that I'll be bundling up in this all winter because it's a bit thicker than my other jumpers. It reminds me of the style of drawing that I have in my room, like the deer on the tricycle illustration I have. It's classic colouring, which makes it really easy to pair with other things but it's got a bit more a an edge because of the different pattern. I think this will be so easy to style in both cute and edgy ways. It will also come in hand on Christmas jumper day because I wont look odd if no one else wears one but I'm technically wearing one because the rabbit is.

I feel like I just word vomited this post out but I hope you enjoyed and see you on Tuesday for my monthly loves.

*Just a little disclaimer to keep everything out in the open. I was sent the case for free because I wasn't asked to say nice things and I could opt out at any point. All of my opinions/word vomit were my own. I know the people who always read my blog will know that but I thought I'd put this here for anyone new. (hello)
