Style Snippet: University Day Visit

Sunday, 11 October 2015
I visited the University Of Leeds yesterday and although I didn't like it, I did enjoy the outfit I was wearing.

So I just wore this shirt from H&M, along with my Joni jeans and my tartan scarf. This is such a typical outfit for me but I changed it up a bit by buttoning up the shirt, instead of leaving it open, and it gives this lovely, androgynous look. I think the shirt look is a really easy but put together look; the pin stripe just adds a more smart vibe, which is what I wanted since it was a day of first impressions.
The shirt is quite thin and it doesn't feel as good quality as my other shirts but it is great for days that you don't want bulky layers. The thinness of the shirt works to make it more flowy and casual, instead of very structured. Its a bit longer at the back, which is nice because it covers your bum so it's great to wear with leggings. I just rolled the sleeves up a bit more because I think it flatters me more; as I'm quite petite I find that rolling sleeves up is better because the fabric doesn't swamp me, especially with more oversized items.
The black jeans are just sleek and make the outfit so easy to wear! If you wanted to go for a more styled look, you could add some cigarette trousers, but for this day I just kept it casual and more me.
I added my tartan scarf, as I do with most outfits because it just adds warmth and a nice pop of colour.
As I said, the university wasn't really for me. I didn't really like the city, the campus was a bit overwhelming and the lecture rooms felt quite claustrophobic. I would say that the lecturers were amazing and had a real enthusiasm about their course and research.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed the post! What is your go to outfit?

  1. I LOVE THAT TOP!?1?1 I want it - I completely love how it's not too thick or a bit sheer... getting a bit chilly for it though heh! My absolute go-to is very similar: striped breton top and black jeans + chelsea boots. SO LAZY but it's so comfortable!
