10 Reasons To Start A Blog

Tuesday, 1 September 2015

So I realized it's now September and I started my blog in July and I'm already in love with blogging! I thought I'd put together this posts for anyone, like me, who was scared to start one.

1: You meet such amazing people. This is my favourite part about blogging! If you make a twitter and just join in chats and get to know people it makes the whole experience a lot more fun. The community of bloggers is great and so supportive. There's chats nearly everyday and you can just join in, talk about the things you love with like-minded people. I think without joining in I wouldn't have kept up blogging because it would be quite lonely hahaa!

2: It helps with confidence. Everyone knows I'm a shy person but since I've started blogging I've managed to get better with talking and interacting with people. This links to number 1 because joining in with chats and commenting on other peoples blogs has made me gain so much confidence and become a less awkward person. Also taking photos of myself had made me more confident in front of the camera, which has also helped with my body image!

3: It's a creative outlet. I started my blog because I felt like I was doing nothing and I wanted something productive to do with my time. My blog is a place where I can spend time being creative and producing things I'm proud of. I love photography and writing so its the perfect combination and a great way to stay creative.

4: A blog is a great way to become productive. Like I said I was doing nothing with my time so I started the blog and when I did, I told myself I'd try and post most days till summer ends. I did it, I've posted nearly everyday and made content that I enjoy and I'm proud of. Starting the blog has gave me a challenge but it's something I love, it's got me out of my lazy slump and I've became so much more productive because of it.

5: You learn new skills. I started my blog on a blank template but I knew the look I wanted, so it made me branch out and try to learn new things. After buying a cheap template I started to learn skills and change it until I liked it. I've learn how to make headers, buttons, techniques on Photoshop and things I never even knew about like favicons ahah. I love learning and it's pushed me to try out new techniques in order to get the desired result.

6: It's something to be proud of. Setting yourself goals and reaching targets with your blog is something you can be proud of. Like I said, I wanted to post nearly everyday and I did, I'm so proud of myself and this has gave me more confidence to keep going with my blog, knowing I can be organised. Also learning new skills and designing a blog you love is a great achievement. I'm proud of everything I do with my blog and it's a great feeling.

7: Hate comments are not common!! I put off starting a blog for so long because I though I'd get negative comments and I dont deal well with insults and things but when you look at other peoples blog, with bigger audiences you notice that negative comments are few and far between. I've actually found everyone who I interact with to be lovely and most people know the effort that you go to and wouldnt drag you down. It's rare to see negative comments and if you do theres so many nicer ones, it's just not a big deal.

8: You'll get better as you go on. It's always scary starting up in a community with such talented people but as you post more you'll get better and you'll learn as you go along. You get constantly inspired by the people around you and theres always someone to ask if you're unsure on how to do something. You'll grow into your blog and find things you love to post, so theres no need to compare yourself, set targets and you'll continue to grow and get better. There's no point in comparing because you blog is your own, make it into something you'll love and you'll be great.

9: It challenges you. A blog will always be a challenge because it's yours and you'll always want to do better but thats a good thing. Having something that you want to improve and make better challenges you and can help aid your skills. By this I mean, my blog has helped me become a clearer thinker and a better writer. I'm not a good writer because I'm a very bad speller but I enjoy it and writing it for people to read has made me better at spelling and spell checking, even if I'm not perfect. I'm a much clearer thinker now because when I run out of ideas I know there's no use in stressing, I've learnt to calm down and use relaxing techniques so I can brainstorm ideas.

10: Why not? If your reading on why you should start a blog then you obviously really want to, so whats stopping you? If you're scared of friends finding it, dont use your name and then when it's something your really proud of, show them. If you're scared you wont be good, just give it a try anyway because you'll just get better. Just give it a go, you can stop if it's not for you but I expect that you'll love it just as much as I do.

Hope you enjoyed this, what's your favourite part of blogging? xo
